In 1997, Alice Spencer traveled to New Mexico to attend Hal Zina Bennett's Write From The Heart workshop, one of the great experiences of her life. After attending an additional workshop in 1998, she began publication of Voices as a way of showcasing the work of new and established writers. Initially, all of the material published in Voices came from other workshop participants she kept in touch with. As subscribers shared their issues with family and friends, submissions began to arrive from other sources.
The first five issues were printed and mailed to subscribers — a very labor-intensive process! Publication was suspended during the two-year, terminal illness of Alice's sister and did not resume until 2005.
Voices is now published on its own web site, Voices Online. Please feel free to share Voices with others by directing them to www.voicesonline.ws.
Schedule: Voices is not published on a regular basis. When there are enough submissions and enough time to assemble a new issue, publication occurs!
